Quality, safety and consistency aren’t optional at QPES. they’re built into everything we do.
That’s why we continue to maintain a wide range of industry recognised accreditations, including SafeContractor, SAMS, Constructionline, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.
But why so many? And is it really worth the effort?
We sat down internally for a quick Q&A to explain the thinking behind our approach.
Why so many accreditations?
Different clients align to different accreditation bodies.
While the core principles behind these schemes are very similar, each is typically focused on – or particularly valued within – specific sectors. Our customer base is broad, spanning commercial and industrial clients, private landlords and social housing providers.
Maintaining multiple accreditations ensures we can confidently and compliantly work across all these sectors, removing barriers to engagement and maximising opportunities for our clients and our business.
It must be very expensive and time consuming?
If you’re starting from scratch, then yes – it can be.
There’s a significant amount of work involved at the beginning: understanding the business in detail, documenting processes, training people properly and aligning everything to recognised standards.
However, over time something interesting happens. The systems start to join up. Routine and consistency take over. Training stays up to date as a matter of habit. Issues are identified earlier. Better decisions are made faster – and often by different people, rather than relying on one or two individuals.
You start achieving more, in less time.
Does compliance help with growth?
Absolutely.
Many businesses grow quickly under the leadership of a single, entrepreneurial individual. That works well in the early days. But as companies expand, they inevitably reach a point where it becomes impossible for one person to hold everything together.
Clear systems and well defined processes allow others to operate confidently within a structured framework, while leadership retains visibility and control. In practice, this frees directors and founders from constantly operating the business, allowing them to work on the business – improving it, developing it and planning for the future.
Isn’t it easy to get bogged down in compliance?
It can be, if compliance is treated as a tick box exercise.
There can be daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly “to do” lists, and without the right mindset it’s easy to feel buried under paperwork. Accreditations may look impressive on a website, but if they don’t deliver real, measurable value, what’s the point?
So… what is the point?
At QPES, compliance is about consistency, accountability and continual improvement.
It gives our clients confidence. It gives our teams clarity. And it gives our business a structured way to review, improve and refine how we operate.
The result is safer working practices, better quality outcomes and more reliable service delivery – for everyone involved.
It costs time and money – is it really worth it?
Yes.
Accreditations demand investment, but the return comes in many forms: reduced risk, improved efficiency, fewer mistakes, stronger client trust and long term sustainability.
For QPES, maintaining high standards isn’t a burden – it’s part of how we deliver value, protect our people and consistently meet the expectations of the sectors we serve.
